Nonsan City in South Chungcheong Province is making every effort to collect overdue local taxes amounting to 6.8 billion won. For habitual and large-scale tax delinquents, the city will conduct home searches and seize vehicle license plates.
On July 28, the city announced that it held the "2025 Local Tax Delinquency Collection Strategy Meeting" at City Hall, where it systematically reviewed its collection goals for the second half of the year.
More than 30 people attended the meeting, including Mayor Baek Seonghyeon, the vice mayor, directors of departments and divisions, and heads of towns, townships, and neighborhoods. They shared performance results and difficulties by region and discussed response measures.
According to the city, the amount of overdue taxes carried over this year is about 6.8 billion won. The city plans to collect at least 3.1 billion won of this amount.
In particular, for the second half of the year, the city will mobilize various measures to address delinquencies, including a survey of large-scale delinquents, home searches and seizure of movable assets, joint license plate seizures with the police, and sending Kakao AlimTalk notifications.
Mayor Baek stated, "We will hold those who deliberately avoid payment fully accountable until the end. However, for livelihood-driven delinquents, we will support their recovery through installment payment arrangements and welfare connections."
