On July 29, the county held a "Safety Prayer Ceremony for the Construction of Youth Public Rental Housing" at the project site in Gyodong-ri, Jindo-eup, wishing for the successful progress of the project and accident-free construction. The event was attended by over 100 people, including County Governor Kim Heesu, County Council Chair Park Geumrae, county council members, heads of local organizations, and local residents.
This project is a youth-tailored housing policy funded with 4.5 billion KRW from the Local Extinction Response Fund. The county plans to construct one rental housing building with five above-ground floors and a total floor area of 1,447 square meters, providing 18 units.
The housing units will reflect the diverse housing needs of young people, consisting of 14 units of 60 square meters (24 pyeong) and 4 units of 29 square meters (12 pyeong). With affordable rent, the project is expected to substantially reduce the housing cost burden for young residents.
Through this project, the county aims to alleviate housing insecurity among the youth and encourage them to settle locally. Additionally, the county plans to pursue a virtuous cycle by preventing population outflow and revitalizing the local economy.
Kim Heesu, the county governor, stated, "Youth public rental housing will be more than just a place to live; it will serve as a foundation for young people to pursue their dreams in the region. We will prioritize safety in every stage of the construction process and create a livable residential environment to accelerate the realization of 'Jindo, the Island of Hope and Treasure.'"
