View original image"Public Service Design" is a citizen participation policy model in which citizens, public officials, and service designers work together from the initial planning stages of public service policies to identify and address issues. This year, Hanam City participated with the project "Enhancing Bonds and Happiness Among Families of Persons with Disabilities."
Over the past five months, Hanam City formed a Citizen Design Group together with local residents to develop an emotional support program for families of persons with disabilities. In collaboration with the Planning and Coordination Division, the Senior and Disabled Welfare Division, and the Hanam Family Support Center for the Disabled, a total of 13 workshops were held to design customized services.
This project is particularly significant because it addresses the issue of emotional isolation among fathers with disabilities and non-disabled siblings, who often fall through the cracks of policy coverage. The project designed tailored programs to promote emotional recovery and mutual communication.
If selected as one of the 23 outstanding projects through the second round of online screening, Hanam City will be recognized for the third consecutive year for excellence in public service design, following the 2023 project "Gam-il Healthy Life Support Center: Created by Us, Together with Families and Neighbors" and the 2024 project "Hanam-Style Old Town Coexistence Project: Dementia Patient Guardians 'Hand-in-Hand in Every Neighborhood.'"
A Hanam City official stated, "This project is a model designed to help families of persons with disabilities become more closely connected and recover within the local community," and added, "We hope many citizens will show interest and support by voting for this care policy that centers on fathers and siblings."
The second round of screening will be conducted through an online public vote (40%) and an expert in-person review (60%). Citizens can participate in the online vote via the "Sotong24" website under the [Policy Participation] → [Public Review] menu. The Ministry of the Interior and Safety will select the top 23 outstanding projects, and after the final performance sharing event, the results of the top 10 projects will be announced.
