Thailand and Cambodia Hold Summit and Agree to Ceasefire
On the 28th (local time), four days after the start of armed clashes between Thailand and Cambodia, the two countries held a summit and agreed to a ceasefire.
Phumtham Wechayachai, Thailand's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, who is serving as Acting Prime Minister, and Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, held an emergency meeting at the Prime Minister's residence in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, in the afternoon. According to Reuters, Malaysian Prime Minister Ibrahim, who presided over the meeting, stated, "Thailand and Cambodia have agreed to an unconditional ceasefire," and added, "The ceasefire will begin at midnight tonight." This meeting was mediated by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar, as Malaysia currently holds the chairmanship of ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations).

This meeting was held four days after Thailand and Cambodia engaged in an armed clash at the border on the 24th. The two countries, which have had ongoing territorial disputes in the border region, escalated the conflict by deploying fighter jets starting on the 24th.
