Minister Baek Kyunghoon: "In the AI Era, Technology Without Cybersecurity Is a Castle on Sand... Major Overhaul of National Information Security System"
Visit to the Internet Incident Response Center
"Active Adoption of AI Throughout the Entire Response Process"
On July 27, Minister of Science and ICT Baek Kyunghoon visited the Internet Incident Response Center (KISC) within the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) to inspect the response system for increasingly sophisticated cyber threats in the era of artificial intelligence (AI).
Minister Baek stated, "As seen in domestic hacking incidents, an AI era without robust cybersecurity capabilities could pose even greater threats." He added, "If security is not ensured while advanced technologies such as AI and biotechnology are converging and the AI superhighway is being developed, all technologies could collapse like a castle built on sand."
The Ministry of Science and ICT and KISA are currently operating a 24/7, year-round monitoring system centered on the Internet Incident Response Center. They also maintain a real-time response system with telecommunications companies and chief information security officers (CISOs) of major enterprises. In particular, they are actively incorporating AI into their incident response systems to enhance detection accuracy and response speed.
