Goyang Special City (Mayor Lee Donghwan) announced on July 25 that it has won the Grand Prize at the '2025 National Local Government Heads Manifesto Best Practices Competition' hosted by the Korea Manifesto Implementation Headquarters, with its case of expanding Goyang-style healing agriculture.

View original imageThe competition, held on July 24 at Kyungpook National University, was organized to share and spread outstanding policy cases of local government heads nationwide. A total of 159 local governments and 191 best practices that made it to the finals were evaluated in seven categories: △Economic and Regional Industry Support △Inequality Reduction △Response to Demographic Changes △Safety and Disaster Management △Climate, Environment, and Ecology △Social Capital △Community Strengthening.
Among them, Goyang City achieved the honor of winning the Grand Prize in the Inequality Reduction category with its case of 'Introduction and Expansion of Goyang-style Healing Agriculture.'
The city was highly recognized for its effectiveness and significance in expanding customized healing agriculture programs for socially vulnerable groups, such as seniors with dementia, cancer patients, and families of crime victims, in cooperation with local schools, hospitals, and other community organizations.
With this, Goyang Special City has achieved the honor of winning awards for three consecutive years: the Excellence Award in the Digital Innovation category in 2023, the Grand Prize in the Economic Inequality Reduction category in 2024, and now the Grand Prize in 2025.
Lee Donghwan, Mayor of Goyang Special City, stated, "It is very meaningful to receive such a positive evaluation at this best practices competition, following our achievement of the highest grade in the manifesto implementation evaluation this past May. We will continue to accelerate our efforts to fulfill our pledges for the happiness and safety of Goyang citizens."

Meanwhile, the city is pursuing various projects to expand healing agriculture, including training professionals such as healing agriculture specialists, developing eco-friendly soil conditioners through public-private cooperation, and creating healing gardens at schools. The city plans to continue its efforts to enhance community welfare.
