From Infant Clothes and Toys to Sleep Rest Areas: Ulsan City Launches Full-Scale Parenting Support 'Saenghwal Plus Project'
Opening Ceremony for Three Welfare Facilities at the Childcare Center on the 25th
Ulsan City is launching the 'Saenghwal Plus Project' in earnest to ease the childcare burden on parents and to promote a culture of sharing and care.
At 3:00 p.m. on July 25, the city will hold an opening ceremony at the Ulsan Municipal Childcare Center for the Agijagi Infant Clothes Sharing Store, the Surisuri Toy Sharing Store, and the U-Moms Sleep Rest Area, and will begin operations.
The projects being promoted this time are three community-oriented policies: the Agijagi Infant Clothes Sharing Store, the Surisuri Toy Sharing Store, and the U-Moms Sleep Rest Area.
These initiatives have been established with the aim of reducing the childcare burden on parents and spreading a culture of sharing within the local community to create a sustainable environment.
The Agijagi Infant Clothes Sharing Store opened first on July 17 and began trial operations, while the remaining projects will officially open on this day with the ceremony.
The 'Agijagi Infant Clothes Sharing Store' is located on the basement level 1 of the Ulsan Municipal Childcare Center, covering an area of 55.4 square meters. Any Ulsan citizen can use the store, which operates from Tuesday to Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Donated infant clothes are sold at affordable prices, with a maximum of five items per household, and the store is equipped with various facilities for efficient operation, including display shelves, hangers, and fitting rooms.
The 'Surisuri Toy Sharing Store' is located on the first floor of the Ulsan Childcare Support Center. It provides toy repair, exchange, and sharing services for families with infants and young children as well as daycare centers.
Toy repair requests can be made through the website of the Ulsan Metropolitan City Childcare Support Center, while exchanges and donations can be made by visiting the center in person.
The artificial intelligence unmanned information kiosk (AI kiosk) installed in the center determines whether toys are eligible for exchange or donation, takes photos, and prints certificates of appreciation, offering children additional joy and fun. The store operates from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on weekdays and until 4:30 p.m. on Saturdays.
The 'U-Moms Sleep Rest Area' is located on the second floor of the Ulsan Municipal Childcare Center.
Mothers (including grandmothers) with children aged 0 to 9 can take time to rest comfortably in an environment equipped with five sleep capsules, oxygen supply devices, wardrobes, bedding, and more. There is also a space where visitors can enjoy a cup of tea that aids relaxation and sleep.
The facility is open from Tuesday to Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. It can be used for up to four hours per day and up to 24 hours per month, at a rate of 1,000 won per hour. Reservations must be made in advance by phone or through the Childcare Center's website.
An official from Ulsan City stated, "We have created an open platform where citizens can share items such as clothes and goods that children have outgrown or toys that no longer match their developmental stage, benefiting both neighbors and the environment. Through sharing, Ulsan citizens can raise children together and build a warmly connected society that passes on a sustainable environment to future generations."
At the end of July last year, Ulsan City established the first 'Municipal Childcare Center' among metropolitan cities, building a 24/7 emergency care service system for children aged 0 to 12.
In addition, Ulsan City is doing its utmost to make Ulsan not only a city where it is good to have and raise children, but also a city where children, parents, and citizens are happy together, through various support policies such as night and Saturday care for elementary school students, self-help group care (Neighbor Love), and facility-dispatched care (Always Together Love).
