Hyundai Mobis Q2 Operating Profit Up 36.8% on Expansion of High Value-Added Components
Sales of 15.94 Trillion Won, Operating Profit of 870 Billion Won
Hyundai Mobis announced on July 25 that it recorded sales of 15.9362 trillion won and an operating profit of 870 billion won in the second quarter of this year. Compared to the same period last year, sales increased by 8.7% and operating profit rose by 36.8%. Net profit for the period was 934.4 billion won, a decrease of 6.3%.
For the first half of this year, sales reached 30.6883 trillion won, up 7.6% year-on-year. Operating profit increased by 39.7% to 1.6467 trillion won.
The improvement in performance was driven by the full-scale operation of the North American electrification plant and the expansion of high value-added electronic component supply, resulting in a favorable product mix effect. In addition, the global expansion of after-sales parts sales under a favorable exchange rate environment, along with company-wide profitability improvement activities, led to a significant increase in operating profit.
As part of its shareholder value enhancement policy announced earlier this year, Hyundai Mobis will increase its interim dividend from 1,000 won to 1,500 won. The record date for the dividend is August 11. In addition, the company plans to purchase and retire treasury shares worth a total of 110 billion won, and will additionally retire 700,000 shares of treasury stock currently held.
