KMI Selects Final 14 Projects for "Our Sea Field Research Support Project"
The Korea Maritime Institute (KMI, President Cho Jeonghee) has announced the final selection results for the "2025 Our Sea Field Research Support Project," which aims to address regional issues in the maritime and fisheries sector.
This year, a total of 135 research proposals were submitted for the public contest. After expert review, 14 projects were finally selected. The competition rate was approximately 9.6 to 1, demonstrating strong interest in field research within the maritime and fisheries sector.
The selected projects include topics closely related to daily life and industry, such as marine tourism with companion animals, improving daily logistics in island regions using drones, marine disaster prevention in response to climate disasters, and rebranding strategies for maritime jobs. In addition, research will be conducted to secure the sustainability of coastal communities, including the acceptance of marine tourism in super-aged regions, the recovery of fishing village communities, and strategies for utilizing idle spaces.
The research teams will conduct their studies for about four to five months starting at the end of July, and plan to share their results at the final presentation at the end of the year. Two outstanding research projects will receive the KMI President's Award.
