Yuhan Corporation Renovates Former Office Building to Commemorate 100th Anniversary
Carrying On the Spirit of Founder Dr. Ilhan New
Yuhan Corporation is renovating its former office building to commemorate its 100th anniversary in 2026. The former office building is located in Daebang-dong, Dongjak-gu, Seoul, right next to the current headquarters.
Renovation refers to refurbishing and reusing an existing building without demolishing it. The former office building being renovated will consist of two structures: one with three floors and the other with four floors, each expanded by one floor compared to the current state. The building has a construction area of 4,492 square meters and a total area of 11,948 square meters. The former office served as an office and production plant for about 35 years, from 1962 to 1997, and is considered to have significant historical value. The exterior walls will be preserved as much as possible, while the interior will be modernized. The construction is currently underway, with the goal of completion before June 20, 2026, which marks the company's 100th anniversary.
One of the buildings will serve as an exhibition hall, featuring memorial and history exhibits dedicated to the life and management philosophy of the founder, Dr. Ilhan New, as well as a promotional space presenting Yuhan Corporation's present and future vision. Visitors will be able to learn about Dr. Ilhan New's diverse roles as an independence activist, entrepreneur, educator, and philanthropist. The other building, called the "Coexistence Hall," will include a multipurpose hall, pavilion, and cafe, and will be created as a community-friendly cultural complex accessible to all, including Yuhan Corporation employees and local residents.
