Co-developed with Dr. Hee-Won Jung... "Maeil Soymilk Lentil Beans" Sells Out in One Week
Maeil Dairies' "Maeil Soymilk Lentil Beans" sold out its initial production volume within just one week of its July launch. This new product was co-developed with Dr. Hee-Won Jung, a medical doctor who sparked a health trend in Korea with her book "The Slow Aging Diet." The product appears to have gained popularity through word of mouth among health-conscious consumers.
Dr. Hee-Won Jung is known for regularly drinking low-sugar soymilk with no added sugar to increase her intake of plant-based protein. This habit led to her collaboration in designing Maeil Dairies' lentil bean soymilk.
Maeil Dairies worked closely with Dr. Hee-Won Jung throughout the development process, collaborating on nutritional design, ingredient blending ratios, and flavor to create the new product. The product uses lentil beans, a key grain in the MIND diet recommended in "The Slow Aging Diet," as its main ingredient. Each 190ml pack contains a reduced sugar content (1.5g), while providing plant-based protein (9g) and dietary fiber (3g), making it a healthy option for everyone.
Lentil beans, in particular, are recommended by many nutritionists for their high content of plant-based protein and dietary fiber, as well as their low sugar content. Comparing 100g of lentil beans (dried) to brown rice, lentil beans contain 23.58g of protein versus 7.33g, and 12.2g of dietary fiber versus 3.9g, demonstrating the superior nutritional value of lentil beans.
