Gyeonggi Province Holds Various Events for Price Stabilization Including Direct Agricultural Markets
Gyeonggi Province will hold a variety of discount events through the end of the year to alleviate the burden of rising grocery prices caused by heat waves and heavy rain, and to promote the consumption of local agricultural products.
First, from July 18 to July 27, Gyeonggi Province will offer a 30% discount on purchases of vegetables, fruits, eggs, and other items at local food stores within the province, with a daily limit of 30,000 won per person.
This event is separate from the agricultural and livestock product discount support program run by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. Before visiting a participating store, customers should check the announcement section on the Gyeonggi Agro-Fisheries Promotion Agency website (www.gafi.or.kr) to confirm whether the store is participating in the discount event.
In addition, the 'Doraemi Market,' a regular direct sales market for agricultural specialties, will be held eight times on Fridays and Saturdays from August to November at Gyeonggidamteul (Gyeonggi Convergence Town Plaza) in Gwanggyo, Suwon.
The name 'Doraemi Market' means "flavors (mi) coming (ra) to Gyeonggi Province (do)." Around 40 booths will be set up to sell seasonal fruits and vegetables, as well as processed agricultural products.
'Market Gyeonggi,' an online shopping mall specializing in Gyeonggi agricultural specialties, is preparing various special promotions to help stabilize prices. Starting with the Health and Wellness Promotion from August 11 to 17, there will be a Chuseok Promotion in September, a New Rice Promotion in October, a Kimchi-making Promotion in November, and a special event in December to promote mutual growth with other local governments.
Park Jongmin, Director of the Agricultural, Fisheries and Life Sciences Bureau of Gyeonggi Province, said, "With residents facing a greater burden on grocery prices due to recent heat waves and heavy rain, we plan to hold various discount events both online and offline to help ease the economic burden."
