Korea Exchange Holds Online Briefing Session for Disclosure Officers on Commercial Act Amendment
The Korea Exchange held an online briefing session for disclosure officers and personnel of listed companies regarding the amendment of the Commercial Act on the 22nd. The purpose was to share the main points of the amendment with disclosure officers and personnel of listed companies, and to emphasize the need for more active communication with shareholders in order to build trust between companies and their shareholders.
The session proceeded in the following order: the Korea Exchange introduced its Value-Up (corporate value enhancement) program, followed by an explanation of the main points of the Commercial Act amendment and strategies for strengthening shareholder communication (by Yulchon LLC), an overview of governance improvement directions (by the Korea ESG Standards Institute), and a Q&A session.
In consideration of the high level of interest from listed companies and for convenience, the session was held online via YouTube. More than 1,500 corporate professionals from 950 companies participated, demonstrating strong interest in the recent amendment of the Commercial Act and the new government’s capital market policies.
The Korea Exchange stated, "We expect that this session will help improve understanding and active implementation of the amended Commercial Act for the protection of general shareholders' rights and governance improvement." The Exchange also urged companies to actively participate in disclosing their corporate value enhancement plans as part of sincere communication with shareholders.
