Sam-il PwC and KDIA to Host Webinar on Strategies for Entering the U.S. Defense Procurement Market
Strategies for Entering the World's Largest U.S. Market Discussed
PwC U.S. Government Contract Experts to Attend
Sam-il PwC and the Korea Defense Industry Association (KDIA) announced on July 22 that they will jointly host a webinar on July 29 at 9:30 a.m. under the theme "Key Considerations for Entering the U.S. Defense Procurement Market." The webinar is designed to help K-Defense companies understand the U.S. defense procurement market, the largest in the world, and to present strategies for successful entry.
The webinar will feature government contract experts from PwC U.S., who will provide explanations and response strategies regarding the Federal Acquisition Regulation, Cost Accounting Standards, the Buy American Act, and the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification.
In particular, various amended laws under the Donald Trump administration will be addressed. In the first session, Phil Koos, a partner at PwC U.S., and others will introduce major systems, while in the second session, Director Corey Avery will lecture on recent trends.
According to Sam-il PwC, when participating in U.S. defense procurement bids, if the contracting officer deems it necessary for a particular contract, they will conduct a contractor qualification review to determine the eligibility of the participating company.
It is especially important to prepare for "maximum requirements" and "the highest post-award audit risk" when prices are determined through negotiation. If the contract amount is $50 million or more, both the prime contractor and subcontractors are required to apply the Cost Accounting Standards, resulting in increased requirements.
Kim Taeseong, leader (partner) of the Sam-il PwC Defense Industry Center, stated, "Although there is significant uncertainty regarding tariffs imposed by the Trump administration, the U.S. defense procurement market is one where companies can demonstrate both technological competitiveness and compatibility with U.S. military weapons. It is necessary to proactively prepare by thoroughly understanding the requirements for contracts with the U.S. government and then reorganizing the necessary personnel, systems, and procedures."
Song Gidae, head of the Defense Export Division at KDIA, said, "For K-Defense to become a trusted partner in the global market, understanding and responsiveness to advanced procurement markets such as the U.S. will be key competitive factors. KDIA will also actively support domestic companies in overcoming the complexities of overseas procurement environments and entering the market stably through cooperation with the government, businesses, and experts."
