Gyeongsan Youth Culture Center Holds First Opening Event After Remodeling... Year-Round Self-Governance Activities Also Operated
Gyeongsan City (Mayor Cho Hyunil) announced on July 21 that the 20th Youth Steering Committee recently held the "What Are You Doing? Come to the Youth Culture Center~!" experience event, which was planned and operated directly by the committee at the Gyeongsan Youth Culture Center.
This event, held on July 19, was the first program to take place after the remodeling of the Youth Culture Center. The youth steering committee members took the lead in every stage, from proposing ideas and creating web posters to designing the program, preparing food ingredients, setting up the venue, and managing the event on-site.
In particular, the event effectively showcased the newly renovated space through a variety of programs planned by the youth themselves, serving as an opportunity to highlight the autonomy and creativity of youth activities.
On the day of the event, about 100 young people from local elementary, middle, high schools, and universities participated. The event featured a wide range of programs, including pre-event performances by dance and vocal clubs, experiences with smart mirrors and virtual sports systems, making kimbap candles, a treasure hunt, random play dance, speed games, and sharing Sotteok Sotteok snacks, which garnered significant interest and enthusiastic responses.
The youth steering committee members who participated in organizing the event stated, "It was even more meaningful because we created everything ourselves from start to finish, and we will continue to actively propose programs that reflect the voices of youth."
Director Yang Jinhee said, "We will continue to expand youth-led activities and plan to operate a variety of beneficial programs utilizing the remodeled space. We hope for your continued interest and participation."
Meanwhile, the 20th Youth Steering Committee, affiliated with the Gyeongsan Youth Culture Center, consists of 16 middle, high school, and university students from the area. The committee represents the opinions of local youth by monitoring facilities and planning and operating programs.
The Youth Culture Center operates a variety of youth programs and self-governance activities throughout the year.
