[PollPoll News] President Lee's Approval Rating at 62.2%... First Decline Since Taking Office
Realmeter: "Democratic Party 50.8%, People Power Party 27.4%"
A public opinion poll released on July 21 showed that President Lee Jae Myung's approval rating for his handling of state affairs has declined for the first time since taking office.
According to a survey conducted by Realmeter at the request of Energy Economy News from July 14 to 18 among 2,514 voters aged 18 and older nationwide, President Lee's approval rating stood at 62.2%, down 2.4 percentage points from the previous survey.
Realmeter analyzed, "Although positive evaluations remain in the low 60% range, several factors have negatively affected the assessment of state affairs. These include intensified controversies during confirmation hearings for key ministerial nominees and disasters caused by record-breaking heavy rains."
The percentage of respondents who rated the president's performance as "poor" was 32.3%, while 5.5% answered "don't know." The negative evaluation increased by 2.3 percentage points from the previous week.
In a party support poll conducted from July 17 to 18 among 1,003 voters, the Democratic Party of Korea recorded 50.8%, down 5.4 percentage points from the previous week. Support for the People Power Party rose by 3.1 percentage points to 27.4%. The Cho Kuk Innovation Party and the Progressive Party recorded 3.9% and 1.3%, respectively.

The margin of error for the presidential approval rating survey is ±2.0 percentage points at a 95% confidence level, while the margin of error for the party support survey is ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
