KT Embarks on 14.5 Billion KRW "Supreme Court AI Platform" Project
AI Model Specialized for Legal Affairs Based on "Mi:um 2.0"
KT is joining forces with the Supreme Court to launch a full-scale initiative to build an artificial intelligence (AI) platform specialized for judicial operations. This project, with a total budget of 14.5 billion KRW, will be carried out over the next four years and aims to drive the digital transformation and enhance the efficiency of judicial administration.
On July 21, KT announced that it had signed a contract with the Supreme Court for the "AI Platform Construction and Model Development Project for Supporting Judicial Operations." The project will be conducted as a consortium led by KT, with participation from LBox, Konan Technology, and MTData.
The core objective of this project is to apply AI across all aspects of judicial practice?including drafting judgments, extracting key issues, and searching for precedents and statutes?to alleviate delays in trials and improve both accuracy and productivity in judicial work.
The KT-led consortium was selected as the project operator after receiving high marks in the bidding process for several reasons: the legal-specialized multi-LLM (large language model) technology based on KT’s "Mi:um 2.0," LBox’s experience in operating legal tech AI, and Konan Technology’s search and labeling solutions.
KT plans to design and build an AI platform that supports all aspects of judicial operations, leveraging its proprietary AI and ICT technologies as well as its experience in public sector AX (AI transformation) projects. The platform will include features such as judgment and statute-based search, automatic extraction and summarization of key issues, and assistance in drafting judgments.
KT intends to use this project as an opportunity to strengthen its presence in the B2G (business-to-government) and B2B (business-to-business) AX markets, with "Mi:um 2.0" at the forefront.
