Gwangju Man in His 70s Found Dead Three Days After Disappearing in Heavy Rain
An elderly man in his 70s who went missing after going out to his field on a day of heavy rain was found dead after three days.

View original imageAccording to the Bukbu Police Station in Gwangju and other authorities on July 20, at around 2:40 p.m. that day, a firefighter searching Gwangjuho Lake by boat discovered a man believed to be the missing person, Mr. A. He was already deceased.
Based on his physical characteristics and other identifying features, police believe there is a high likelihood that the man is Mr. A, and they are currently following procedures to confirm his identity.
Mr. A had gone out to a field near Geumgok-dong in Bukgu, Gwangju on July 17, when record-breaking heavy rain fell, and then lost contact with his family. After receiving a report from his family, police and fire authorities suspected that he may have been swept into the area around Gwangjuho Lake and have been searching for four days.
Meanwhile, on the same day, a witness reported that a person had been swept away by a rapid current near Sinancheon in Bukgu. The search for this missing person is still ongoing.
