Siheung City Conducts Hygiene Inspections of Food Businesses During Vacation Season
Targeting 73 Locations Including Franchises and Highway Rest Areas
On July 16, the city of Siheung in Gyeonggi Province announced that it will conduct hygiene inspections of food-handling businesses located in multi-use facilities with high foot traffic during the summer vacation season, until July 18.
The inspection will target a total of 73 locations, including franchise establishments and highway rest areas. During the inspection process, the city also plans to collect and test popular summer foods such as naengmyeon and bingsu.
The main inspection items include: ▲ whether expired products are being stored or used ▲ cleanliness of kitchens and hygiene facilities, and whether pest control measures are in place ▲ compliance with storage temperatures for refrigerated and frozen foods ▲ any reuse of food ▲ use of unreported or unregistered products, and compliance with labeling standards.
Along with the inspections, the city will also provide hygiene education and guidance to prevent food poisoning, and any minor violations will be corrected on the spot.

Choi Minseok, head of the Siheung City Hygiene Division, stated, "This inspection is a proactive measure to prevent food poisoning and hygiene-related incidents," and added, "We will continue to create a safe food environment where citizens can use facilities with peace of mind."
