CU Strengthens Celebrity Beverage Marketing... Launches Ahn Sohee Wine 'Shimmer'
Participated in Every Stage from Labeling to Product Launch
Uses Grapes from Marlborough, New Zealand
On July 16, CU announced that it will exclusively launch two varieties of the premium New Zealand wine 'Shimmer' in collaboration with actor Ahn Sohee on July 30.
Recently, CU has been strengthening its collaborations with celebrities in the alcoholic beverage sector by partnering with various artists, including QWER wine from the girl band QWER, SHINee Key's Keep Cocktail, Peaceminusone Highball, and Idles Lager, which supports indie bands.
Shimmer Wine is a product in which actor Ahn Sohee, known as a wine enthusiast, personally visited New Zealand to meet with local wineries and participated in every stage of the product's development, from selecting the base wine to designing the label and planning the launch.
Ahn Sohee has consistently demonstrated her interest in and extensive knowledge of wine through various wine-related video content on her YouTube channel. The wines she has recommended have gained popularity by word of mouth and are often referred to as 'Ahn Sohee Wine.'
The newly introduced wines are produced at Summerhouse Winery, which specializes in Sauvignon Blanc, using grapes harvested from the Blind River Vineyard region in Marlborough, New Zealand.
They feature a harmonious balance of herbal acidity and tropical citrus fruit flavors, and will be officially released offline in two varieties: Shimmer Sauvignon Blanc (white, 29,000 KRW) and Shimmer Pinot Noir (red, 30,800 KRW).
From July 17 to July 23, CU will hold a pre-order event for the two Shimmer wines on its own commerce app, Pocket CU. Reservations can be made through CU BAR, Pocket CU's alcoholic beverage pickup service. Among customers who pre-order, three teams (including one companion per team) will be selected by lottery to receive invitations to the 'Shimmer Wine Launch Event' to be held on July 31 at La Casa Hotel in Gangnam, Seoul.
At the event, actor Ahn Sohee will participate in person to share the story behind the wine's creation and the collaboration process, and guests will be able to enjoy a pairing course meal that complements Shimmer Wine.
