As the speaker for this special lecture, Mayor Joo Gwangdeok shared his own story of growth, describing his passion and efforts to pursue a legal career despite difficult circumstances. He conveyed the message, "No matter the environment, if you have a clear dream, the direction of your life can change."
Mayor Joo compared the process of achieving dreams to "planting a seed," explaining, "If you carefully nurture the seed of your dream planted in your heart, it will eventually bear great fruit," and emphasized to the students the importance of perseverance and belief.
In particular, Mayor Joo Gwangdeok said, "Just as Dasan Jeong Yak-yong stated that 'for those with dreams, tomorrow is youth and expectation,' I hope you all become people who look forward to a tomorrow filled with dreams and hope."
He also cited the "build-up" strategy in soccer, saying, "The experience of accumulating small achievements and the patience to overcome temptations ultimately become the driving force for realizing your dreams."
He advised the students to talk to themselves about their dreams once a day and to try overcoming temptations for even just three days.
One student who attended the special lecture said, "The mayor shared his sincere life experiences and concrete ways to achieve dreams, which made my vague dreams feel more realistic. I learned that believing in myself and persevering to the end is important for making dreams come true, which made this a meaningful experience."
