Through this project, the city installed a total of 6 kilometers of 345kV and 154kV high-voltage transmission lines underground along Jibong-ro, from Sangsamsageori in Haeryong-myeon to the Wangji 2 District urban development site, and removed the above-ground transmission towers. With the completion of the project, the city expects significant improvements in both the stability of power supply and the urban landscape.
Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu expressed his gratitude to the citizens, stating, "Despite the prolonged construction period causing inconvenience and fatigue, the orderly and mature cooperation of our citizens allowed us to smoothly complete the roadwork for the underground section."
The removal of the transmission towers was a long-standing goal that local residents had been continuously demanding for over a decade. The project was finally realized thanks to the efforts of Suncheon City, the city council, and its citizens.
