Sejong City, an Urban-Rural Complex, Provides 600,000 Won Farmer Allowance per Household
"Applications Must Be Submitted at Township Offices in the Farmland Area for One Month"
Sejong City will accept applications for the Farmer Allowance at township and town offices in the location of farmland for one month, until August 14. The Farmer Allowance is provided to ensure stable basic income for farmers and to maintain and enhance the public functions of agriculture and rural communities. It is paid once a year per household, in the amount of 600,000 won, provided as local currency.
Eligible recipients are farmers who have registered their agricultural management information, have resided in Sejong City from January 1, 2022, through the application date, and received the Basic Public Direct Payment in the previous year. Those who have fraudulently received subsidies such as direct payments, violators of the Farmland Act, and those in arrears (local taxes or non-tax revenues) are excluded from the support.
The Farmer Allowance received can be used at affiliated local currency merchants within the region until December 31, 2026.
Song Inho, Director of Urban-Rural Win-Win Cooperation, stated, "The Farmer Allowance can be used for purchasing daily necessities and agricultural materials, which will help stabilize farm management," adding, "Since the allowance is provided as the local currency Yeominjeon, we hope it will also contribute to revitalizing the local economy."
Previously, in 2023, the city became the first among all metropolitan cities in the country to provide the Farmer Allowance. Last year, a total of 3.6 billion won was paid to 6,117 farming households, with each household receiving 600,000 won.
