Minki, Honorary Professor at Jeju National University, Appointed as New Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister
Minki, an honorary professor in the Department of Public Administration at Jeju National University (age 67), has been appointed as the new Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister (vice-ministerial level).

View original imageOn July 9, the Office of the Prime Minister announced in a press release, "Chief of Staff Min is an expert with 38 years of public service experience at national universities and the Office for Government Policy Coordination, combining both theoretical knowledge and practical expertise, and is recognized as someone who best understands the realities on the ground." The office added, "He also worked as Director of Industrial Promotion (director-level) at the Secretariat of the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Support Committee within the Office of the Prime Minister, and is expected to effectively assist the Prime Minister in carrying out state affairs based on his understanding of the Prime Minister’s philosophy of governance." In particular, his research on local finance policy and experience in legislating the decentralization of authority from central government ministries to local governments are expected to make significant contributions to advancing regional balanced development policies."
Chief of Staff Min, who is originally from Hwasun, Jeonnam, graduated from Younghoon High School in Seoul and the Department of Public Administration at Dankook University. He holds a master's degree in public administration from Columbia University in the United States and a doctorate in financial administration from the University of Kentucky.
