President Donald Trump of the United States announced on July 4 (local time) that he plans to send tariff letters to 10 to 12 countries.
According to Bloomberg News, President Trump spoke with reporters at Andrews Air Force Base in the United States on July 3. When asked which countries would receive the tariff notification letters first, he said, "Tomorrow (the 4th), it will probably be 10 to 12 countries."
He added, "We plan to send more over the next few days, and we should be able to finish everything by the 9th." Regarding the tariff rates by country, he stated, "They could range from 10 to 20 percent, up to as high as 60 to 70 percent," but refrained from providing specific details on the countries or items subject to tariffs.

President Trump also emphasized that tariff revenue would begin to flow in earnest, stating, "Money will start coming in from August 1." He further reaffirmed that he is not considering an extension of the deadline next week, reiterating that July 8 is the deadline for the mutual tariff suspension.
