Eunpyeong-gu Becomes First Seoul District to Win Grand Prize for Excellence in Social Enterprise Promotion
Officially Designated as a "Social Enterprise-Friendly City"
Eunpyeong-gu in Seoul announced on July 3 that it has received the 'Grand Prize' in this year's evaluation of local governments for social enterprise promotion, becoming the first among Seoul's autonomous districts to do so.
This evaluation, organized by the Ministry of Employment and Labor, was conducted during the Social Enterprise Day ceremony held on July 1 at the Seoul Science and Technology Convention Center. The assessment targeted local governments nationwide to foster a regional ecosystem for social enterprises, comprehensively reviewing twelve indicators across five areas: job creation and market support, management of preliminary social enterprises, establishment of support systems and discovery of best practices, participation in the Social Value Index (SVI) and efforts toward transparent management, and achievements in realizing the local era and providing social services. Eight local governments were selected based on these criteria.

The district has strengthened the foundation for business growth through various forms of support, such as entrepreneurship education, management consulting, business development funding, and customized product development. In addition, by cooperating with related organizations such as the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Korea Social Enterprise Promotion Agency, Eunpyeong-gu expanded the social economy network to a metropolitan scale through initiatives like product exhibitions for social economy enterprises and business model mentoring.
