Recruitment of Tenant Companies for Gwangyang Port Sepung Port Hinterland Complex
Until August 11: 340,000 sqm Available
Geographical Advantages for Regional Industry Collaboration
Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (acting president Hwang Hakbeom, hereinafter referred to as the Authority) announced on July 2 that it is accepting applications from companies wishing to move into the Gwangyang Port Sepung Port Hinterland until August 11.
The area available in this announcement is 340,000 square meters, excluding the already leased sites from the total 410,000 square meters of the Sepung Port Hinterland Complex. Applicants should refer to the application guide on the Authority’s website, prepare a business plan, and submit it by 2:00 p.m. on August 11. The maximum lease period is 50 years, with contracts renewable every three years.
The Sepung Port Hinterland Complex is an innovative case, being the first in Korea to be designated as a port hinterland through the purchase of a local inland industrial complex. It is centrally located between the Gwangyang District, home to POSCO and Gwangyang Port, and the Yulchon District, where GS Caltex and the Yeosu National Industrial Complex are situated. This location offers a geographical advantage for businesses linked to regional specialized industries such as steel and petrochemicals.
Additionally, as Jeollanam-do has been designated a special zone for secondary batteries, the area provides optimal conditions for advanced chemical materials and renewable energy industries. It also has infrastructure to support a wide range of manufacturing sectors, including biohealth, food and food ingredients, as well as metal and nonferrous metal processing.
Jung Hasu, head of the Logistics Complex Department, stated, "With the completion of the purchase and designation of the Sepung Port Hinterland Complex, the shortage of hinterland space at Gwangyang Port has been resolved, and conditions have been secured for high value-added import and export manufacturing companies to move in. We will continue to attract investment from excellent manufacturing companies in the Gwangyang Bay Area and do our utmost to generate robust port cargo volumes and revitalize the local economy, even amid deteriorating internal and external conditions."
