Damyang County Mayor Jeong Cheolwon Makes All-Out Efforts to Secure Special Grants
Consecutive Meetings with Lawmakers Across Parties
Requests for Support on Key Local Issues

View original imageJeong Cheolwon, the mayor of Damyang County in South Jeolla Province, is continuing his all-out efforts to secure special grants for resolving local issues.
On July 1, Mayor Jeong met with Kim Sunmin, leader of the Joguk Innovation Party, as well as National Assembly members affiliated with the party, to request active support for major local projects. He also met consecutively with Lee Gaeho, member of the Democratic Party (representing Damyang, Hampyeong, Yeonggwang, and Jangseong in South Jeolla Province), and Yang Bunam, member of the National Assembly (representing Gwangju Seo-gu Eul), asking for their cooperation.
During the meetings, Mayor Jeong proposed securing special grants totaling 10 billion KRW for 13 projects. The proposed projects include the maintenance of aging infrastructure, expansion of cultural and tourism infrastructure, enhancement of local safety, and improvement of resident convenience facilities.
Mayor Jeong stated, "The national budget is a key tool for balanced regional development. Therefore, we are strengthening cooperation with the National Assembly to address pressing county issues and improve the lives of our residents," and emphasized, "We will achieve tangible results through cooperation and communication that transcend party lines."
Meanwhile, the county plans to continue visiting central government ministries such as the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, making every effort to secure national funding for the swift implementation of long-awaited local projects.
