Heo Kyungheng, chairman of the Gwangju City Council in Gyeonggi Province, held a meeting in the chairman's office on the 1st to mark the first anniversary of the opening of the second half of the 9th Gwangju City Council. He was joined by former chairmen Choi Jungmin (3rd term first half), Koo Imo (3rd term second half), Cho Eokdong (4th term first half), Lee Woo Kyung (4th term second half), Lee Sangtaek (5th term second half), So Misoon (7th term first half), Lim Ilhyuk (8th term second half), and Joo Imrok (9th term first half). During the meeting, they engaged in meaningful discussions on the future direction and upcoming tasks of the Gwangju City Council.

View original imageThis meeting was organized to facilitate communication with senior chairmen who have extensive experience in council affairs, to reflect on past achievements, and to gather a wide range of opinions for citizen-centered council management. The participants shared various proposals to strengthen the role of the council and to realize an open council that meets the expectations of citizens.
Heo Kyungheng stated, "The Gwangju City Council has reached its current position thanks to the dedication and leadership of the former chairmen," and added, "Going forward, I will actively reflect the advice of my predecessors to create an open council that works together with citizens."
During the meeting, they reviewed major policies and institutional improvements that have been promoted since the launch of the 9th council, and exchanged in-depth opinions on key tasks that need to be pursued during the remainder of the term. In addition, there was a shared understanding of the importance of spreading a culture of cooperation within the council and achieving tangible legislative results.
