Kim Hyunmi Inaugurated as 34th Deputy Governor of Geochang County
"I will realize field-oriented, resident-centered administration, working together with the people of the county"
Geochang County in South Gyeongsang Province announced that Kim Hyunmi has taken office as the 34th Deputy Governor of the county.
Appointed as Deputy Governor of Geochang County following a personnel decision by South Gyeongsang Province, Kim Hyunmi has quickly begun her official duties, leveraging her extensive administrative experience and deep expertise to promote regional development and enhance the welfare of county residents.
Born in Tongyeong, Deputy Governor Kim began her public service career in Sacheon City in 1991. She transferred to South Gyeongsang Province in 1995, was promoted to the rank of section chief in 2014, and has since accumulated a wide range of experience across various local government fields. With her recent promotion to deputy director-general, she has now been appointed as Deputy Governor of Geochang County.
In particular, she demonstrated outstanding capabilities and earned recognition by handling budget and planning, as well as local autonomy affairs, in major departments at the South Gyeongsang Provincial Government, such as Budget Officer (Budget 2 Division), Administrative Affairs (Autonomous Administration), and Personnel (General Affairs).
After being promoted to head of the Youth Policy Task Force in 2020, she has been actively involved in various areas, serving as Director of Small Business Policy, Director of Women’s Policy, and Director of Cultural Heritage. In these roles, she has worked to address regional issues, promote balanced development, and improve the welfare of provincial residents.
In her inaugural address, Deputy Governor Kim Hyunmi stated, "I will work closely with the people of Geochang, realize field-oriented and communicative administration, and do my utmost to create tangible changes that residents can feel by achieving sustainable development for Geochang based on the region’s valuable assets." She added, "I will support Governor Koo Inmo in opening a bright future for Geochang."
Notably, immediately upon her appointment, Deputy Governor Kim completed her resident registration transfer to Geochang County as of July 1, expressing her commitment to communicating more closely with residents and contributing to the advancement of county administration.
