June DRAM Fixed Prices Surge Over 20% for Third Consecutive Month... NAND Up 6.57%

The average monthly prices of memory semiconductors and NAND flash continued their upward trend in June.
According to market research firm DRAMeXchange on July 1, the average fixed transaction price for generic PC DRAM products (DDR4 8Gb 1Gx8) in June was $2.60, up 23.81% from the previous month.
The price increase has exceeded 20% for three consecutive months. Previously, prices rose by 22.22% in April and by 27.27% in May. DRAM prices, which had plummeted by double digits in September 2024 (-17.07%) and November 2024 (-20.59%), remained flat for four consecutive months starting in December 2024 before switching to an upward trend.
This was influenced by reduced supply due to suppliers' production cut policies, early inventory buildup by PC manufacturers amid tariff uncertainties, and strong sales of products equipped with Intel's 'Raptor Lake' central processing units (CPUs). Each of these factors contributed independently to the price increase.
As these factors are expected to persist into the third quarter, the price of the older DDR4 is likely to continue surpassing that of the newer DDR5. DDR4 is currently experiencing a supply shortage in the market. Market research firm TrendForce analyzed, "The pace of DDR4 DRAM supply reduction is progressing faster than expected, leading to more active transactions," and forecasted, "In the third quarter, DDR4 is expected to be 3% more expensive than DDR5."

The average fixed transaction price in June for generic NAND flash products (128Gb 16Gx8 MLC) used in memory cards and USB drives was $3.12, up 6.57% from the previous month. NAND prices, which had declined for four consecutive months starting in September 2024, rebounded in January 2025 with a 4.57% increase and have risen for six consecutive months since then.
