Daegu Office of Education to Recruit 100 Middle School Students for "A Fun Day Without Smartphones" Camp
The Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Kang Eunhee) announced on June 30 that it will hold the "A Fun Day Without Smartphones! Digital Detox Camp" for 100 middle school students, in collaboration with KT, at the Daegu Artificial Intelligence Education Center from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on July 20.
This camp has been organized to prevent students’ digital overdependence due to the accelerating digital transformation and to help them develop proper digital literacy. The Digital Detox program will be conducted under five themes: career special lectures, communication, concentration, encouragement, and collaboration.
First, the camp will begin with a career special lecture, "My Dream, My Future," designed to help middle school students explore career paths and envision their futures.
Following this, a series of programs will be offered: "National Representative Pilot Academy," which is linked to the science curriculum to spark interest in pilot careers and deepen understanding of the aviation field; "Sports Screen Shooting," which is connected to the physical education curriculum to provide enjoyable physical activities; "Garden in My Hands, Terrarium," which is linked to science and art curricula to allow students to experience hands-on plant cultivation, fostering emotional stability and creativity; and "Percussion Ensemble," a program where students play instruments together to build teamwork and nurture artistic sensitivity.
Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis through Edunavi starting at 5 p.m. on June 30, and the selected participants will be notified through their schools by July 11.
Superintendent Kang Eunhee stated, "I deeply appreciate KT for their generous support and cooperation for this camp," and added, "We will continue to provide diverse educational opportunities and actively support our students, who will be the leaders of the future society, so that they can develop proper digital skills and form healthy lifestyle habits."
