Man Who Plotted Terror Attack at President Lee's Son's Wedding Referred to Prosecution Without Detention
A man in his 50s who posted an online message plotting a terror attack at the wedding of President Lee Jaemyung's son has been referred to the prosecution.
The Seongbuk Police Station in Seoul announced on June 26 that the man in his 50s was sent to the prosecution without detention on charges of public intimidation.
The suspect is accused of posting, on June 9, a message on social networking services (SNS) under the theme of "eradication at once," which included a map photo of the venue known to be the wedding location of President Lee's son, Dongho, along with the date and time of the ceremony, and a statement saying, "I could obtain the license plate numbers of incoming vehicles."
During the police investigation, the suspect reportedly admitted to all charges and stated that he had no actual intention to carry out the plan.
