On the 25th, Kim visited the May Mothers' House in Yangnim-dong, Nam-gu, Gwangju, where she held a meeting with the May Mothers, who are the bereaved families of those honored for their contributions to the 5·18 Democratization Movement. The meeting, which was held behind closed doors, was attended by 11 members, including An Seongrae, the founding director of the May Mothers' House, and Kim Hyeongmi, the current director.
During the meeting, Kim explained the purpose of her visit by saying, "I came to the May Mothers' House to fulfill the promise I made to see you again after the presidential election."
During the meeting, which lasted for about an hour, Kim took notes and listened as the families of the 5·18 victims and honorees shared their difficulties. After the meeting, she reportedly responded by saying, "I will invite the mothers to Seoul soon."
This was Kim's first visit to the May Mothers' House in about a month, since her previous visit on the 14th of last month, ahead of the 21st presidential election. At that time, Kim stated, "After the 12·3 Martial Law, I often thought of the mothers who experienced the 5·18. I wanted to visit and offer words of comfort to them."
