Supporting Nine Korean Energy Companies
Achieving Export Contracts Worth 1.1 Million Dollars
KOTRA to Continue Providing Tailored Support

KOTRA (Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency) opened the Korea Pavilion at a Canadian energy exhibition to support Korean energy equipment companies in entering the North American market.

KOTRA announced on the 24th that it had set up the Korea Pavilion at the "Calgary Energy Show (GES)" held for three days starting from the 10th (local time) in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, supporting nine domestic energy equipment companies in their efforts to enter the North American market.

GES, now in its 55th year, is the largest energy-focused exhibition in Canada, attracting more than 400 companies from around the world and featuring national pavilions from six countries. This year, approximately 35,000 visitors attended the event to share the latest technologies and trends in the global energy market.

After being reorganized in 2023 from a traditional oil and gas-focused exhibition into an integrated energy exhibition covering nuclear power, hydrogen, and renewable energy, the Korea Pavilion was operated on its largest scale ever this year. Nine companies, including LS Electric, Samyoung Fitting, and Hwaseong Valve, participated to actively promote their technological capabilities and product competitiveness, and engaged in vigorous consultations with local buyers.

Samyoung Fitting, a company specializing in forged fittings, participated in the exhibition for the third consecutive year and, as a result of its on-site marketing efforts, secured supply contracts worth a total of 1.1 million dollars with global distributors. This achievement is regarded as a signal of a substantial entry into Canada's traditionally conservative energy industry.

Recently, as changes in U.S. tariff policies have accelerated the reorganization of supply chains within North America, Korea and Canada have been strengthening their strategic cooperation based on their complementary industrial structures. The government led by Prime Minister Mark Carney, inaugurated in May, has identified energy security and the restructuring of infrastructure supply chains as core national policy tasks, and has announced an "Energy Superpower Strategy" that encompasses traditional energy, renewable energy, and cross-border power grid connections. These policy changes are providing Korean companies with equipment, technology, and engineering capabilities with opportunities to become key partners in the Canadian energy industry.

On June 9, the day before the exhibition opened, a cooperation meeting was held with the participation of representatives from the Alberta provincial government, companies exhibiting in the Korea Pavilion, and local Korean companies. During the meeting, participants shared market demand forecasts and strategies for entering the Canadian energy equipment market.

Choi Hyunsoo, head of KOTRA's Vancouver office, stated, "Canada is an important strategic base for entering the rapidly changing North American energy market, and the credibility of Korean companies is steadily increasing through ongoing technology exchanges and supply track records. KOTRA will continue to provide a variety of tailored support to effectively promote the technological capabilities and competitiveness of Korean companies in the local market, and to help them achieve sustainable results, with a focus on the growth potential of the Canadian energy industry."
