London Philharmonic Returns After Two Years... Son Yeoleum to Perform Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 1
Four Performances Scheduled in October
Conducted by Edward Gardner
The London Philharmonic Orchestra will return to Korea in October 2025, marking its first visit in two years since October 2023.
Concert promoter Vincero announced that the London Philharmonic will hold a total of four performances during its visit in October. The orchestra will begin with a concert at the Seoul Arts Center on October 14, followed by performances at Daejeon Arts Center on October 16, Busan Concert Hall on October 17, and Gyeonggi Arts Center on October 18.
Edward Gardner, who has served as principal conductor of the London Philharmonic Orchestra since September 2021, will lead the concerts. Gardner, who is also the music director of the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet, recently extended his contract with the London Philharmonic through 2028.
Pianist Son Yeol-eum will join the orchestra to perform Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1. This work, known for its grand introduction and dramatic development, is one of the most beloved piano concertos.
The concert will open with Mendelssohn's "Calm Sea and Prosperous Voyage," and the second half will feature Brahms' Symphony No. 2. Through Mendelssohn's depiction of a tranquil, mysterious sea and a lively voyage, and Brahms' music that combines profound lyricism and vibrancy, the London Philharmonic will showcase its distinctive rich sound.
