View original imageOn June 21, Jeonnam Province announced that it had declared its 13GW offshore wind power vision for the eastern region through the 'Offshore Wind Power Industry Expo,' and achieved results such as signing agreements on energy basic income and the establishment of a supply chain for equipment, as well as facilitating consultations between equipment suppliers and power generation companies.
The Offshore Wind Power Industry Expo was hosted by Jeonnam Province and organized by the Green Energy Research Institute and the Jeonnam Wind Power Industry Association. Over 1,000 participants, including domestic and international offshore wind industry stakeholders and experts, as well as the heads of eight cities and counties, attended the event, reaffirming the status of Jeonnam's offshore wind power sector.
Under the theme "A Bold Challenge to Become a Global Offshore Wind Power Hub," this expo was the first of its kind organized by a local government. Jeonnam Province announced its 13GW offshore wind power vision for the eastern region and achieved significant results, including agreements with related companies.
On the first day, the following activities took place: ▲ Signing of agreements on energy basic income and the establishment of a supply chain for equipment ▲ Announcement of Jeonnam's 13GW offshore wind power vision for the eastern region, preferential measures for the local supply chain, and presentations on the status of power generation company projects and ways to participate in the supply chain.
On the second day, the following activities were held: ▲ Announcement of public-led complex development plans centered on Yeosu and Goheung ▲ Promotion of equipment companies based in Jeonnam and matching consultations for supply contracts.
In particular, leading power generation companies and local supply chain firms?including Myungwoon Industry Development, Yutap Construction, K Wind Power, Bada Energy, Pacifico, COP, Renova, and Hanwha Ocean?signed eight MOUs, joining forces to build the offshore wind power industry ecosystem. A total of about 150 matching consultations between equipment companies and power generation companies further energized the event.
Kim Yungrok, Governor of Jeonnam Province, stated, "Jeonnam has been preparing for a renewable energy-centered society more quickly than any other region. Taking this expo as an opportunity, we will further strengthen our efforts to build the offshore wind power ecosystem and realize energy basic income. In particular, we will actively work to ensure that Jeonnam, the most suitable region for the establishment of the Ministry of Climate and Energy, takes on that role."
