Gapyeong County Secures 58 Billion Won for Regional Balanced Development Over 5 Years... Boosts Regional Growth Momentum
Gapyeong County Secures an Additional 18 Billion Won in Gyeonggi Provincial Funding
Focused Investments Planned for Living Conditions and Tourism Projects
Gapyeong County in Gyeonggi Province (Governor Seo Taewon) announced on June 20 that it has secured an additional 18 billion won in provincial funding as performance-based project funds from the 3rd Gyeonggi-do Regional Balanced Development Project, creating new momentum for regional development.
The 3rd Gyeonggi-do Regional Balanced Development Project will provide a total of 360 billion won in provincial funding over five years, starting in 2025, to six cities and counties. After confirming strategic projects worth 240 billion won in October last year, the province recently allocated an additional 120 billion won in performance-based project funds to the six cities and counties, based on evaluations of project implementation to date. Through this evaluation, Gapyeong County secured an additional 18 billion won in provincial funding. As a result, including the 40 billion won received last year, Gapyeong County will receive a total of 58 billion won in provincial funding by 2029.
Based on the secured budget, Gapyeong County will continue to promote previously confirmed projects: the expansion of the Gapyeong Integrated Water Purification Plant, the creation of the US-UK Commonwealth Tourism Security Park, and the construction of key connecting roads in Gapyeong-eup. In addition, the county plans to focus investments on projects that will have a tangible impact on residents' lives, such as expanding basic infrastructure to improve living conditions, revitalizing local tourism, and fostering industries.
To ensure the prompt commencement and successful implementation of these projects, the county will strengthen the management of provincial fund execution rates and project progress, while establishing an organic system of interdepartmental cooperation. Through these efforts, the county aims to minimize disruptions during project implementation and achieve concrete outcomes that residents can experience firsthand.
