Busan National University Track and Field Team Produces Universiade National Representatives, Proving Field Event Dominance
Busan National University has once again demonstrated its strength on the national collegiate athletics stage. Having established itself as a powerhouse in field events, Busan National University celebrated the dual achievement of having both an athlete and a coach selected for the national team.
On June 19, Busan National University announced that Hyunwoo Lee, a fourth-year student in the Department of Physical Education, was officially selected as a member of the Korean national team for the '2025 Summer Universiade.' Coach Jaehyuk Yoo was also appointed as a coach for the national team, earning recognition for his leadership.
Hyunwoo Lee secured his spot on the national team by taking first place in the long jump at the '1st Korean University Athletics Federation President's Cup National University Athletics Competition,' held last April at Naju General Sports Park in Jeonnam. This competition also served as the final selection trial for the Universiade, which will be held in July in Rhine-Ruhr, Germany.
Busan National University entered eight athletes in this competition and achieved outstanding results, winning three gold medals, one silver medal, and two bronze medals. Hyunwoo Lee (long jump), Yongbae Park (high jump), and Chaeyoung Lim (triple jump) each won gold medals. Hojin Noh (100m) earned a silver medal, while Chaeyoung Lim (long jump) and the 400m relay team (Hyunwoo Lee, Siwon Lim, Hojin Noh, and Jiwon Choi) won bronze medals.
