Goheung Art Center to Hold "Folk Paintings, Engraving Wishes" Exhibition
About 40 Folk Paintings by Jeonnam Young Artist Kyurin Kim on Display
Goheung County in Jeonnam (Governor Gong Youngmin) announced on June 19 that it will host an exhibition of folk paintings by Jeonnam young artist Kyurin Kim, titled "Folk Paintings, Engraving Wishes," at the Goheung Art Center from June 24 to July 13.
This exhibition is a solo show by artist Kyurin Kim, one of the two teams selected through the Goheung Art Center's 2025 second exhibition space rental contest. A total of about 40 folk painting works will be on display. The artist plans to present a variety of works that combine a modern sensibility with traditional folk painting, expressing wishes for happiness and well-being in everyday life.

View original imageThe exhibition is open to the public free of charge from Tuesday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and is closed every Monday. Previously, in April and May, the first exhibition space rental featured about 50 calligraphy works. The county plans to continue organizing exhibitions that encourage participation from local residents.
The Goheung Art Center will also present a group exhibition featuring Haejung Jung and three other artists from July 31 to August 31, showcasing about 40 contemporary artworks across various genres, including installation art, sculpture, and Western painting.
A county official stated, "We are doing our best to create an open cultural space to expand cultural enjoyment opportunities for residents and to revitalize local arts," adding, "We hope this exhibition will bring the joy of artistic creation to local artists and broaden the scope of cultural enjoyment for the residents."
