Disney+ to Adapt Popular Webtoon "Remarried Empress" into Drama
Starring Shin Min-a, Ju Ji-hoon, Lee Jong-suk, Lee Se-young, and More
Disney+ announced on the 19th that it will release a drama adaptation of the popular webtoon "Remarried Empress" next year.
"Remarried Empress" is one of Naver Webtoon's flagship titles, with a global cumulative view count of 2.6 billion. The story follows Empress Navier of the Eastern Empire, who is notified of divorce by her husband Sovieshu after he falls for the runaway slave Rashta, and the events that unfold as a result. The series was first serialized as a web novel in 2018, gained popularity, and was subsequently adapted into a webtoon.
The drama stars Shin Min-a, Ju Ji-hoon, Lee Jong-suk, Lee Se-young, Lee Bong-ryeon, Choi Dae-hoon, Park Ho-san, Jung Young-joo, and Nam Yoon-ho. Filming is currently underway in Eastern Europe.

The project is directed by Cho Soo-won, known for "I Can Hear Your Voice," "Pinocchio," and "Thirty But Seventeen." The script was written by Yeo Ji-na, who set OCN's highest viewership record with "The Uncanny Counter," together with Hyun Choong-yeol, who co-wrote the film "Brave Citizen." Production is being handled by Studio N, which has previously presented works such as "Trauma Center," "Jeongnyeoni," and "Vigilante."
