View original imageGwangju Social Service Center (Director Kim Daesam) announced on the 18th that it had successfully concluded the nine-day relay event "Social Service Close to Citizens - Gwangju Social Service Week," which was held from the 9th to the 17th.
This event was organized to mark the fifth anniversary of the opening of the Gwangju Social Service Center, with the aim of expanding points of contact with citizens and fostering a shared understanding of the value of social services.
Held under the slogan "Living Together, Connecting Happiness," the relay event featured participation from the main center and five affiliated institutions, offering a variety of programs. It is being evaluated as an opportunity to enhance awareness of the accessibility and public nature of social services through direct communication with citizens.
The event consisted of diverse programs, including: the fifth anniversary forum "Social Services, Tomorrow Shines" (9th); the 16th anniversary celebration of Bitgoeul Senior Health Town (10th); the Elder Abuse Prevention Day event (13th); the launch ceremony for job participants at Bitgoeul 50+ Center (16th); and the opening ceremony of the Gwangju Hikikomori Support Center (17th).
During the event period, more than 1,000 citizens and stakeholders participated both on-site and online, demonstrating strong interest and support for Gwangju social services. In particular, the Salgu Arts Group, a performing arts troupe for people with disabilities affiliated with the Gwangju Social Service Center, gave its inaugural performance, adding special significance to the occasion.
This Social Service Week was meaningful not only as a commemorative event, but also because it strengthened the organic collaboration system between the main center and its affiliated facilities, and fulfilled its role as a public institution contributing to the resolution of community issues.
Kim Daesam, the director, stated, "This Social Service Week was a meaningful time to envision the direction and future of social services together with citizens," and emphasized, "Going forward, we will continue to realize public social services that citizens can truly experience, based on close cooperation with the local community."
Meanwhile, the Gwangju Social Service Center plans to continue building a comprehensive support system for the socially disadvantaged, make ongoing policy efforts to improve service quality, and expand its network of cooperation among institutions.
