Ulju County Goes All-In to Block Pine Wilt Disease... On-Site Inspection of Drone Pest Control
Ulju County in Ulsan has deployed drones to prevent the spread of pine wilt disease, launching a precision pest control operation. On June 17, Ulju County conducted an on-site inspection in the forest areas of Seosaeng-myeon, where the drone pest control project is actively underway, and closely monitored the progress of the operation.
On this day, Lee Sungul, Ulju County Governor, personally visited the site to inspect the progress of the drone-based pest control activities and encouraged the staff involved.
Since May 26, Ulju County has been focusing drone pest control efforts on areas affected by pine wilt disease, particularly in Seosaeng-myeon and the Balli area of Onyang-eup, and will continue until the end of this month. This operation was timed appropriately, taking into account the active period of the Monochamus alternatus beetle, the main vector of pine wilt disease.
According to the county, drone pest control is more precise than traditional aerial spraying, as it can accurately target only pine trees, significantly reducing the waste of chemicals and resulting in considerable budget savings. In particular, the ability to spray chemicals densely at low altitudes is seen as a major advantage in improving control efficiency.
