View original imageAccording to Gwangmyeong City, on the afternoon of the 15th, Mayor Park visited the accident site of the Sinansan Line together with Han-kyung Lee, Director General of Disaster and Safety Management at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, to inspect the situation and issued these instructions.
Mayor Park stated, "The site of the Sinansan Line underground tunnel construction collapse is an area where there are concerns about additional accidents due to heavy summer rain," and added, "The city will do its utmost to proactively respond and prevent accidents."
Mayor Park emphasized, "As extreme weather events are becoming more common due to climate change, we must prevent any foreseeable accidents," and urged, "In line with the government's emphasis on a preemptive and preventive approach to safety management, thoroughly inspect all construction sites in advance for risk factors and address them promptly."

Regarding the ongoing restoration work following the underground tunnel collapse, Mayor Park added, "We will coordinate with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the construction company POSCO E&C, and the developer Next Train to ensure that restoration work in preparation for heavy rain is carried out swiftly."
