Yangsan City Completes This Year's Intensive Safety Inspection... Full Effort for Disaster Prevention
Yangsan City in South Gyeongsang Province conducted the '2025 Korea's Safety Great Transformation Intensive Safety Inspection' over a two-month period from April 14 to June 13, 2025, completing inspections of 82 facilities deemed at risk of disasters and safety accidents.
This inspection was systematically carried out in accordance with the implementation plan established in February 2025. For facilities where issues were identified during the inspection process, immediate corrective actions were taken on-site, and the city secured budgets to promptly initiate repairs and reinforcements, ensuring swift follow-up responses.
This year, the city particularly strengthened inspections of essential infrastructure closely related to citizens' daily lives, such as the Yangsan Sewage Treatment Plant, as well as medical and welfare facilities?including nursing homes, hospitals, and clinics?where large-scale casualties could occur in the event of a disaster.
To this end, Mayor Na Dongyeon, the vice mayor, and senior officials personally visited nine facilities to conduct practical, on-site inspections, and these efforts also contributed to raising public awareness of safety.
Experts from relevant private sectors participated in the inspection of all facilities, thereby enhancing the professionalism and objectivity of the inspections. In addition, the city collaborated with related organizations such as the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency to share inspection programs, and further strengthened the reliability of the inspections by conducting verification checks by both the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and South Gyeongsang Province, in addition to its own inspections.
Yangsan City is transparently disclosing the results of these inspections to the public and is thoroughly managing inspection records and post-inspection monitoring.
Mayor Na Dongyeon stated, "From the outset, we emphasized the participation of private experts and on-site inspections, and we have managed the entire process to ensure that thorough follow-up actions are taken, not just simple confirmations." He added, "We will continue to operate a constant inspection system to make Yangsan a city where citizens can feel safe."
