View original imageIn 2022, Kia formed a partnership with Ocean Cleanup to create a more sustainable planet and has been working to raise awareness about the impact of waste plastic on the world's oceans. Kia has continuously distributed materials explaining how Ocean Cleanup removed more than 1 million pounds (approximately 453 tons) of waste through over 100 waste plastic collection operations in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch.
Additionally, last year, Kia collaborated with Ocean Cleanup to develop the world's first automotive products made from marine waste plastic, and produced media training materials explaining the process.
Kia's communication campaign was featured across global digital, social, and print media, reaching a potential audience of 3.3 billion people from last year through this year. The number of related mentions also showed a clear result, increasing by about 94% in 2024 compared to 2023.
