Yangsan Holds Second Quarter 2025 Integrated Defense Council Meeting
All-Out Efforts for Chungmu Exercise Preparation in the Gyeongnam Region
Pledging to Establish a Perfect Security Posture
On the afternoon of June 11, the city of Yangsan, South Gyeongsang Province, held the Second Quarter 2025 Integrated Defense Council meeting in the main conference room at City Hall. Representatives from the public sector, private sector, military, and police gathered to discuss measures for establishing an integrated defense posture.
Approximately 20 participants attended the meeting, including Yangsan Mayor Na Dongyeon (Chair), Yangsan City Council Chairman Kwak Jongpo (Vice Chair), Kimhae-Yangsan Battalion Commander Lee Seonggi, as well as other members of the Integrated Defense Council and related officials. The meeting proceeded in the following order: appointment of new council members, viewing of a security video, a briefing on the 2025 Chungmu Exercise plan, sharing and dissemination of the Kimhae-Yangsan Battalion’s training schedule and cooperation items, and a discussion on measures to establish an integrated defense posture.
This session of the Integrated Defense Council was particularly significant as it served to check the practical readiness for the Chungmu Exercise. With the Chungmu Exercise in the Gyeongnam region being held for the first time in three years, the importance of close cooperation among all organizations was emphasized. Newly appointed council members also pledged to enhance their security awareness and commitment to their roles.
Na Dongyeon, Mayor of Yangsan and Chair of the Integrated Defense Council, stressed, "The Chungmu Exercise is a crucial drill to prepare for actual emergency situations." He further emphasized, "We will do our utmost to protect the safety of our citizens by establishing a perfect security posture through close cooperation among relevant agencies," and requested, "Please make every effort to promote the exercise so that citizens from all walks of life can raise their security awareness," highlighting the importance of public participation.
The Yangsan Integrated Defense Council is a body that reviews local security conditions and deliberates on measures to ensure smooth integrated defense operations in emergencies. It is convened regularly at least once every quarter.
