The city installed the Smart Library at the entrance of the Administrative Welfare Center for residents of Sangha-dong who have difficulty accessing traditional libraries.
This Smart Library offers more than 250 books, including popular titles, books of the year selected by citizens, and children's books. Any Gyeonggi Province resident with a city library membership card can borrow up to three books for 14 days. Citizens without a membership card can also use the service by issuing a mobile membership card on the city library website, without visiting the library in person.
Lee Sangil, mayor of Yongin, said, "The reading rate among Yongin citizens is 54%, which far exceeds the national average, and the city has ranked first in the number of books borrowed in Gyeonggi Province's public library statistics for seven consecutive years, demonstrating the city's strong enthusiasm for reading." He added, "To meet the passion for reading among citizens, we will continue to expand library facilities in the future."
