Professor Kim Si-hyun of Soonchunhyang University Cheonan Hospital Achieves 100 Robotic Surgeries
Record for the Shortest Period Achieved Among Urology Departments in the Central Region
Soonchunhyang University Cheonan Hospital announced on June 10 that Professor Kim Si-hyun of the Department of Urology recently achieved 100 cases of robotic surgery using the da Vinci Xi system.
This marks the shortest period to reach such a milestone among urology departments in the central region. Since March of last year, Professor Kim has performed robotic surgeries for a variety of urological diseases.
In particular, despite most of these robotic surgeries being high-risk procedures for cancer patients, he has never had to convert to open surgery. He also succeeded in removing kidney cancer in elderly patients in a single operation.
Professor Kim Si-hyun stated, "Prostate and kidney cancer surgeries require a high level of precision, and robotic surgery helps ensure safe and effective procedures. I will continue to strive so that patients in the region can receive state-of-the-art medical services."
