Yeongsangang Environmental Office Launches Special Monitoring to Prevent Environmental Pollution During Monsoon Season
The Yeongsangang River Basin Environmental Office announced on June 9 that it will conduct patrols and special monitoring and enforcement from June to August to prevent environmental pollution during the heavy rainfall season.
The patrols will cover 7 major industrial complexes, including Hanam Industrial Complex, 6 regional water sources, including Juamho, and a total of 15 sites, including Seungchonbo and Juksanbo. The inspections will focus on illegal wastewater discharge, abandoned waste, and abnormal water quality.
The special inspections will target businesses that have a significant impact on water quality, such as those that discharge large amounts of wastewater or produce hazardous wastewater, including dyeing, leather, and plating companies. Key inspection items include the operation status of water pollution prevention facilities, compliance with discharge standards, and the fulfillment of obligations by environmental technicians.
The Environmental Office will also carry out advance publicity by posting a self-diagnosis checklist on its website and sending cooperation letters to businesses, requesting voluntary inspections.
